AC HOTELS BY MARRIOTT® DEBUTS SECOND NEW YORK CITY PROPERTY WITH AC HOTEL NEW YORK DOWNTOWN

AC Hotels by Marriott, Marriott International’s European-inspired lifestyle brand, announces the opening of AC Hotel New York Downtown – the brand’s second property in New York City. Located in Manhattan’s newly-revitalized Seaport District, the 33-story AC Hotel New York Downtown, managed by Concord Hospitality, is set to demonstrate the sophisticated and timeless European design that is true to the AC Hotel brand, interpreted for its Downtown Manhattan location.

The hotel’s sleek 274 guest rooms will provide an escape from the buzzing hub of the Financial District with features such as floor-to-ceiling windows, artwork by locally commissioned artists and unparalleled views of the East River and Brooklyn.

“The development of the Seaport District has the whole neighborhood buzzing and we are thrilled to be a part of the transformation,” says Craig Kepple, General Manager of AC Hotel New York Downtown. “We offer an urban, modern, high-style experience to promote a feeling of harmony and creativity amongst our guests. Our team was attracted to the property’s location, and we believe that the addition of an AC Hotel will perfectly complement this thriving area.”

The distinctive geometric design of AC Hotel New York Downtown’s façade sets the building apart from the surrounding Seaport District neighborhood. The movement of the nearby East River inspired architect Peter Poon to incorporate a wave-like pattern throughout the tower. Guest rooms will be situated on an angle for exceptional views of Lower Manhattan, the East River and Brooklyn as an added bonus.

Similar to the exterior, the interior design of AC Hotel New York Downtown by Kyi Gyaw, Phillip Poonand Jude Smith, reflects the personality of the neighborhood. From the impressive suspended Italian marble staircase at the entry to the art installations by local artists Rachel Weiss and Thomas Hammer; the interiors are meant to evoke positive energy vibrations and organized chaos within an urban environment.

AC Hotel New York Downtown will feature Spanish tapas at the AC Kitchen and handcrafted cocktails at the AC Lounge, including the brand’s two signature Gin & Tonics – the AC Signature G&T with Hendrick’s Gin and the AC GT with Bombay Sapphire East Gin, the latter of which is served in the custom glass designed by the brand to enhance the drinker’s taste, aroma, and palate experience.

“The AC brand is all about giving guests a moment of pause and tranquility, and we’re thrilled to bring this experience to a second location in Manhattan with the opening of the AC Hotel New York Downtown,” said Benoit Racle, Senior Global Brand Director, AC Hotels by Marriott. “From taking in the views from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the guest rooms, to moving seamlessly to enjoying an AC Gin Tonic, or catching up on emails in the workspace in the AC Library, guests can rely on the AC Hotel New York Downtown to provide an oasis of calm in the middle of one of the city’s busiest districts.”

The new AC Hotel is located in the heart of the Seaport District, steps away from world-class restaurants, entertainment and shopping attractions – including the newly-opened acclaimed Corso Como luxury fashion concept store. The hotel’s location also allows for easy access to the new Pier 17, Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, September 11th Memorial and Museum in addition to the World Trade Center.

“With its prime location in downtown Manhattan, this new property offers guests the opportunity to explore all that the Seaport and Financial Districts have to offer during their next visit to the Big Apple,” says Mark Laport, President and CEO of Concord Hospitality. “We look forward to welcoming the newest of the AC Hotels to the Concord Hospitality portfolio.”
