Having Fun

For decades we have directed our efforts and strategy through the lens of Four Cornerstones. However from the very start there was always a 5th Cornerstone often spoken about, but never documented as one of the pillars of the company’s culture.

On August 31, 2015 our president and founder, Mark G. Laport, during a companywide radio address, unveiled that “Having Fun” would be added as Concord’s Fifth Cornerstone, officially encapsulating all the values and guiding principles that make up the DNA of our company.

We are in the people business, so providing a work environment that is fun and rewarding is essential for the success of a service oriented culture. Simply put “happy associates make happy guests who are loyal to our business which in turn drives our success”. We strive to instill a company culture where associates look forward to coming to work, so much that they have a hard time leaving because they enjoy the challenges, their co-workers, and the atmosphere.

Having Fun at Concord means celebration programs that put the spotlight on our people and our cornerstones, but also putting the right associate-focused processes in place to ensure an open, transparent work environment. Celebration is not an annual thing, it’s an everyday thing! We achieve this by maintaining a strong focus on learning, immediate and personalized feedback, opportunities for growth and recognition for individual and team contributions. Concord has Associate Advisory Councils at each hotel so all team members have a voice and a meaningful impact on the company and its direction.
